In the district of Awa, near Kyoto, atelier Sukomo Leather works with the extraction of natural indigo for application to a large range of skins.
The leaves of the indigo plant are harvested by hand and then dried and fermented according to a 600-year-old Japanese method. Materials are then dyed by hand, producing an endless range of blue nuances and subtle finishes on a variety of skins, from calf to crocodile.
